FAQ-20

When will the 2026 BGS Auctions results be available?

The EDCs’ Proposal for Basic Generation Service Requirements to be Procured Effective June 1, 2026 (“Joint Proposal”) includes a tentative auction timeline. The proposed start dates are February 6, 2026 and February 9, 2026 for the BGS-CIEP Auction and the BGS-RSCP Auction, respectively. Please see the Calendar page of the BGS Auction website for all important dates relating to the 2026 BGS Auctions.

Results of previous BGS Auctions can be found on the Past Results page of the BGS Auction website. Information regarding the number of tranches won by each BGS Supplier in each EDC territory is typically released in early May following the BGS Auctions, approximately one month before the supply period starts.

FAQ-19

Are there capacity proxy prices for the 2026 BGS-RSCP and BGS-CIEP Auctions?

As described in the EDCs’ Proposal for Basic Generation Service Requirements to be Procured Effective June 1, 2026 (“Joint Proposal”), the EDCs proposed setting a Capacity Proxy Price for each of the 2026/2027, 2027/2028, and 2028/2029 delivery years that suppliers would be able to incorporate into their bids in the event that the results of PJM’s base residual auction (“BRA”) for that delivery year are not known at least five business days prior to the start of the BGS-RSCP or BGS-CIEP Auction.  The EDCs also proposed that if the results of the BRA for the 2026/2027, 2027/2028, and 2028/2029 delivery years are known at least five business days prior to the start of the BGS-RSCP or BGS-CIEP Auction, the Capacity Proxy Price for the applicable delivery year will no longer be needed and will be voided.

As the results of the BRA for the 2026/2027 delivery year were made available in June 2025, the Capacity Proxy Price for the 2026/2027 delivery year is to be voided in accordance with the EDCs’ Joint Proposal.  The BRA for the 2027/2028 delivery year is set to be held in December 2025 and the capacity charge is expected to be known at least five (5) business days prior to the 2026 BGS-RSCP Auction. The BRA for the 2028/2029 delivery year is set to be held in June 2026 and thus, the capacity charge for the 2028/2029 delivery year is not expected to be known at least five (5) business days prior to the 2026 BGS-RSCP Auction.  As such, the value of the capacity proxy price for the 2028/2029 delivery year, as proposed by the EDCs, is $270.43/MW-day.  The Auction Manager will reconfirm the values of any needed capacity proxy prices(s) no later than five (5) business days prior to the BGS-RSCP Auction.

The EDCs’ Joint Proposal is available on the bgs proceeding page of the BGS Auction website.
